We know that nature & ocean immersion when combined with social connection has proven therapeutic benefits. At ‘That Ocean Feeling,’ we provide individual-tailored sessions that include activities such as surfing, coastal walks, snorkelling, ocean swims and more, all designed to benefit individuals with a cognitive disability or mental health challenges. Our goal for each private session is to leave our clients with a feeling of calm and clarity, by letting the ocean do what it does best -

The term “Blue Mind” comes from a book published by marine biologist Dr. Wallace Nichols in 2014. Through extensive research, he concluded that being in or within proximity to water can ease the mind into a calming, meditative state - in the ocean specifically more so, due to negative ions in the oceanside atmosphere that increase serotonin (the happy hormone).
In essence, ocean therapy is powerful because it combines the proven mental health benefits of water immersion, skill development through water-based activities, and community connection - and at ‘That Ocean Feeling,’ it’s all tailored to the individual.
