At “That Ocean Feeling,” we’ve been running our nature-based alternative therapy sessions since 2020.

This means we’ve got five years of experience in creating tailored, individual sessions - each one designed specifically for our client’s benefit. Our facilitators are also highly skilled, both in terms of water expertise, as well as encouraging social connection, and will always seek out the best activity and location for your session.

As surfers ourselves, we’re dedicated to helping others feel the complete calm and clarity the ocean gives us every time we step in it - because a blue mind is always a better mind!

BLUE MIND

THEORY?

“Blue Mind Theory” is the concept that being near, in, on, or under water induces a mildly meditative state characterized by calm, clarity, reduced stress, and emotional well-being.

Coined by marine biologist Dr. Wallace J. Nichols, the theory highlights how water environments positively affect the brain and body, promoting mental health, creativity, and connection.

This “blue mind” state is created through many factors - proximity to water has been shown to increase dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin (“feel-good” and social bonding hormones) and decrease cortisol (stress hormone), and it even lowers our heart rate!
